More informations
This is a very recent beer style, which came back in vogue in the 1980s. It was created by British and American breweries with the goal of having in their range a “pale ale” that could be produced in their brewing facilities and to contrast the undisputed Teutonic monopoly of bottom-fermented lager beers.
The product, very easy to drink and thirst-quenching, has been a great success. It is particularly appreciated by breweries especially as a valid alternative to lagers, also thanks to the considerably reduced production times.
2nd place at “SOLO BIRRA 2023” in the category “British Bitters”.

The origins of the Blanche can be traced back to an ancient medieval recipe that instead of hops Gruit was used, a particular mixture of herbs and spices at the discretion of the brewer, particularly used in the Netherlands and Belgium.
Replaced by hops, Gruit survives today in the tales of past centuries, but above all it lives again in the Blanche style, which preserves its original spirit: the presence of coriander, orange and other spices give the idea of a drink in which, once, the spicy aroma was the undisputed master of the structure.

The originof this style, typical of top-fermented beers, is linked to the industrial revolution: in the 18th century in England, the discovery of carbon coke and the introduction of steel in dryers made it possible to produce a light malt (in English ” pale “), not smoked.
Over the years, brewing schools have tried to reproduce this style. The different origins often affects the character and alcohol content: for example, the English Pale Ale, faithful to the ancient tradition, have a vaguely floral and not very bitter taste, while the American ones have a particular hoppy taste, with citrus notes and a clean and dry finish.

The Doppelbock derives from the brewing styles common in the Middle Ages in the city of Einbeck, in Lower Saxony. In this region the “strong beers” were produced, more alcoholic thanks to a lower taxation on the necessary raw materials. In 1612, it was a brewer from Einbeck, Elias Pichler, who imported the “Einbeck style” to Bavaria, where it was called “Bock”, from the distortion of the city name in Bavarian dialect.
In the service of the Wittelsbachs, dukes of Bavaria, Pichler developed the first “strong lager” in Munich, by combining the knowledge of the characteristics of the original style with Bavarian production techniques. However, true doppelbocks were originally produced by monks devoted to San Francesco Di Paola (called Paulaner) for some religious holidays such as Easter. In fact, in Lent and in other periods in which fasting was imposed on the monks, the Doppelbocks provided for their sustenance, so much so that they were also called “liquid bread”.

The Riversa craft brewery
In the protected natural area of the Monte Netto Park, in Capriano del Colle in the province of Brescia, our craft brewery was founded in a building from the early 1900s.
Our beers are sincere, they do not contain adjuvants, dyes, sweeteners and preservatives: the beer develops naturally, the clarification takes place by decantation, they are produced without resorting to filtration treatments and are not pasteurized or refermented in the bottle. Craft beers with a classic but unique and original taste, designed to live a new sensory experience, the result of the selection of quality raw materials and recipes created by our Master Brewer.
The result? Beers with a clean style, to taste, share ... and pour again!
